Getting An Appliance Plan For Your Home

Resolve Your Kitchenaid Dishwasher's Cleaning Problems With Three Easy Part Replacements

After a long day at work and cooking dinner, the last thing you want to do is wash the dishes. However, if your Kitchenaid dishwasher isn't working correctly, this is exactly what you will likely find yourself doing. Fortunately, most cleaning issues are minor and involve a simple part replacement.

Inlet Valve

Adequate water flow in a dishwasher ensures that soap is properly dispersed throughout the machine and that any food particles can be washed away. When the inlet valve has failed, the dishwasher won't fill up with enough water to perform the wash and rinse cycles. To determine if this is the source of your problem, open the dishwasher immediately after the end of the rinse cycle.

If the dishes are wet and free of any soap residue, there are some other issues to blame. However, if the dishes are barely wet, completely dry, or still have a fair amount of soap residue, it's likely that the inlet valve has failed and needs to be replaced.

Dish Rack

An often overlooked part of the cleaning process is dish placement. If you load your dishes into the dishwasher incorrectly, the soap and water may not hit them properly, resulting in less than stellar results. In some cases, it's not that you're trying to load the dishes incorrectly, but instead, a worn dish rack is to blame.

Overtime, some of the pegs on the rack can fall off. The pegs ensure each dish is properly separated, but as they start to fall off, this proper spacing can't occur. If your tray is worn, consider replacing it with a new dish rack to resolve your cleaning concerns.

Drain Filter

If your dishes are full of food at the end of the cleaning cycle, a damaged drain filter could be to blame. All Kitchenaid dishwashers have drain filters installed at their base. As the water flows through the drain, food particles remain trapped in the filter, preventing them from ending up back on your dishes.

However, when the drain filter wears down, parts of the filter can start to break, turning the tiny filter holes into much larger holes. The larger the hole, the less effective it will be at trapping the food particles. In this instance, it's time to consider a replacement.

If your dishwasher is not cleaning correctly, with a little investigation, you can get to the bottom of the problem and resolve it quickly. For more information, contact local professionals.
